La Bégude de Mazenc

Originally a Templar stronghold, this village was almost completely destroyed in 1320. Formerly a stopping-point for wagons and carriages – its name means 'the place where you drink' – Châteauneuf-de-Mazenc is a delightful hillside medieval village.
