Lourmarin is a calm and peaceful village located in the lush rural foothills of
the Luberon. Devastated by pillaging and plague
in the fourteenth century, the local seigneur invited a number of families from the Vaud region of Switzerland to the village
in 1470 – they farmed the land and repopulated the deserted region. What to see and visit: the Renaissance castle
(split in two – the oldest section dates back to the fifteenth century); the restored Romanesque church; the town houses
with their Renaissance façades.
