A charming village perched atop a hill in the Haut-Vaucluse, between Orange,
Bollène and
Vaison-la-Romaine. Blessed with a climate
particularly suited to cultivating vines, Cairanne is surrounded by Côtes du Rhône vineyards and is famed for the superb
quality of its wines. You can enjoy tasting the different varieties on offer and also follow the trail which takes you on a journey
of discovery of the grapes which compose the wines made here. Other circuits proposed by the Tourist Office include an exploration
of the old village as well a wide variety of walking trails.
What to see, what to visit: the old village, the ramparts (erected in 1123), the dungeon, three towers, three doors,
the Templars' tower, the chapel of Notre Dame-des-Excès (1631), the chapel of Notre Dame-de-la-Vigne-et-du-Rosaire, the chapel
of Saint-Geniès, the chapel of Saint-Roch, the chemin de Ronde (the guards' gangway) of Saint-Roch.
