Saint-Etienne des Sorts' history has always been intertwined with that of the river Rhône which flows through it. For a long
time the mariniers here used little embarkations called sapines to transport the materials for the construction of digues
designed to control the impetuous river. Saint-Etienne's past is illustrated through the chapel of Saint-Pierre and the
parochial church.
